Love/Hate star Ruth Negga to star in Seth Rogan's new tv series
A US series starring Irish actress Ruth Negga has been picked up by a major American network.
The former Love/Hate star was cast in the lead role in comic book pilot Preacher earlier this year - and now cable network AMC is to make it into a 10-part series.
Preacher - which also stars Negga's British actor boyfriend, Dominic Cooper - is produced by Hollywood actor Seth Rogen, who tweeted the good news.
"Preacher is coming to AMC. The beginning is nigh," the star wrote.
The show is based on writer Garth Ennis and illustrator Steve Dillon's popular 1995 comic book series. It tells the story of a preacher called Jesse (played by Cooper) who's possessed by a demon called Genesis and embarks on adventures with his criminal ex-girlfriend, who is played by Negga.
Rogen worked with Breaking Bad writer and co-executive producer Sam Catlin on the show, and also partnered with Evan Goldberg - who previously worked with the Canadian actor on This Is The End and The Interview.
The show will premiere on the channel, which also carried Breaking Bad, next year.
Preacher isn't Ruth's only high-profile screen job to land this year.
Recently, it was revealed the actress had been cast in Loving - an Hollywood film to be produced by Oscar-winning actor Colin Firth.
