Louis Walsh has a laugh at his own expense in a new ad set to air as The X Factor new series kicks off on Saturday night.

Walsh (63) was axed from this year's judging panel after 11 years but it seems the Mayo man has a sense of humour about the whole affair.

First he had a cameo as a set cleaner in the promo for the new series and now he stars in a Cadbury's ad which will see Simon Cowell invite him back to the show.

The Mirror reports that the sketch depicts Louis receiving a call viewers are led to believe is from Simon telling him he has "good news" and to come over quickly.

Louis rushes off but it soon becomes clear he's just joining some random family on the sofa to watch the show.

Louis has been replaced by BBC radio host Nick Grimshaw while Rita Ora is also new to the judging panel.  Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez Versini return.

Louis' Cadbury's ad will be broadcast on Saturday night (August 29) on TV3 as The X Factor launches at 8pm.
