LOVE/HATE star Laurence Kinlan has said he doesn’t think the gangland drama should return – but joked that if it did his character Elmo should be boss.
The hit drama ran for five years, delivering some of RTE’s highest ratings ever for a home-produced show.
When the series finale aired last year, viewers saw Nidge shot dead in a ditch outside his home in front of horrified wife Trish.
Kinlan says his character was ‘brushed aside’ for the last episode to make way for the epic conclusion.
“I got caught with a load of drugs and then I was brushed aside to make way for an epic ending. I disappeared for episode six.”
He joked that his character could take over the remains of Nidge’s crime empire – before saying the show wouldn’t return.
“Nidge is definitely dead. He’ll never be back, and I don’t think the show will ever be back.
“It was great while it lasted. I hope they don’t bring it back because it ended on such a high and it would be nice to keep it that way.
“You would want it to come back for selfish reasons.”
