Room to Improve finished up on a high last night with Dermot Bannon revisiting three builds from the previous series.

One former client in particular stood out - Michael (14) proved to be something of a superstar, endearing himself once again to viewers with his wit and charm as he thanked Dermot for transforming his friends Ann and Barrys' home in Malahide to be more wheelchair-friendly.

Twitter was awash with gushing over the trio with viewers labelling Michael a 'hero' and demanding he be given his own show.

However, reaction to the finale of the hit RTE One series was not all good as viewers bemoaned the vacuum it will leave on TV on Sunday nights until the new series lands, courtesy of Coco Television, early next year.

Some were unhappy that the current series featured just four new builds in total with Sunday night's 'revisiting' episode capping off the series of just five episodes.

RTE said today that due to the sheer scale and construction time frame of each individual project it wasn't possible to add more episodes this year.

"We're delighted with the reaction to last night's programme and to see that there's so much love out there for Room To Improve.  We would have loved to offer more episodes to viewers this series but due to the sheer scale and construction time frame of each individual project it just wasn't possible this year."

"However Dermot will be back, bigger and better, with a brand new series of Room to Improve in the new year.  For further information on how to apply to be part of the series contact Coco Television at info@cocotelevision.ie."
