I've had a few rocky moments on live TV - Miriam O'Callaghan
She's a stalwart of RTE, but Miriam O'Callaghan has revealed she has had a few nightmare experiences on live TV.
Her chat show, Saturday with Miriam, is set to return on June 20.
"Last year the show was pre-recorded but we're going live again this year - I think Irish people like live chat shows," she told the Herald.
"I love live TV - it makes people up their game."
However, it doesn't always go as planned, and the mum-of-eight admits she's had a few testing moments over the years.
"A good few years back I was on Prime Time. There was no other guest but this famous surgeon who was going to talk to us about army deafness," she said.
"I introduced him as an expert in tinnitus, and then he went on to say, 'I'm really sorry Miriam, but I'm an obstetrician'.
"My producer was laughing in my ear and said, 'You're on your own babe'. I had to talk to that man for 20 minutes, but it was actually fine.
"It's a famous story in RTE at this stage."
Miriam (55) was on hand yesterday to launch National Volunteering Week which takes place from May 11 to 17.
"When I was in college I was involved in Free Legal Advice (FLAC) which is really important - it's a free legal aid service," she said.
"I always remember working in FLAC and dealing with domestic violence for the first time and that stayed with me."
