ITV has been accused of banning stars of BBC rival show ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ from its shows in a bid to stop more X Factor viewers switching.

The two old rivals are set to go head-to-head again on Saturday of next week.

A BBC source told the Mirror that attempts to get its stars on ITV shows such as Good Morning Britain, Lorraine and Loose women have failed.

The source told the paper: “They aren’t taking anyone from Strictly, and are ignoring us or telling us their shows are full. Normally they#re all over us to have our stars on. It seems like some unofficial ban.”

However an ITV source insisted there was no ban in place.

“We’ll have them on, but the series hasn’t started yet – we have bids in for some of the celebrities.”

The source said Jamelia would continue as a panellist on Loose Women while appearing on the BBC show.
