Is James Corden really driving on Carpool Karaoke?

James Corden's Carpool Karaoke feature has become the runaway star of the Late Late Show.
It all started with a Mariah Carey sing-a-long in March 2015 and since then fans have become obsessed with the segment. More than eight million YouTube viewers tune in to watch their favourite performers jam in James' car as he cruises through cityscapes, including Justin Bieber, Adele, Sia and Stevie Wonder.
But there's one thing that keeps fans guessing - is James Corden really driving that car?
The British presenter always appears unfazed and un-rattled as he drives through traffic, flicking through the radio and belting out hits with his famous guest stars.
If that were us, we'd struggle to keep our eyes on the road, especially in a car-obsessed city like Los Angeles where driving can be challenging and erratic at the best of times.
The show is also fortified with a hefty budget so fans have assumed that CBS employ some sort of trickery, from green screens to fake cars, so that nothing is left to chance and the segment runs smoothly.
The latest Carpool Karaoke guest, Jane Krakowski, revealed that those rumours aren't true - James is actually driving the car.
"We drove around a few block in midtown Manhattan, over and over again. James Corden is really driving — he’s a very good driver! — and we’re all strapped in. And he’s very strict about that," she revealed in a Yahho Style interview.
Krakowski also revealed that "they put cameras all over the car, and all over the periphery of the windows. You can’t not be looking at a camera, to be honest," so it's not like James has to do anything other than sing, drive and chat to his famous guest stars.
The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star also cleared up rumours that the show is rehearsed by admitting that everything is improvised.
"Everything you see us saying and doing in the car, none of that’s rehearsed. We did know what songs we would sing, for the most part, but we hadn’t actually sung them together until we were in James Corden’s car."
