Irish actress Caitriona Balfe teases spoilers for Outlander season two at Comic Con
It won’t hit screens until next year, but Outlander star Caitriona Balfe has leaked some details about what fans of the show can expect.
The Monaghan native was speaking at Comic-Con in San Diego at a panel with her co-star Sam Heughan.
The star, who plays nurse Claire Randall, has said that followers of the hit show can expect more relationship dramas and plot twists.
Balfe plays the now-pregnant combat nurse who is transported from 1945 back to 1743, where she meets and fall in love with Scottish warrior Jamie (played by Heughan).
The next season of the show will follow the duo in 18th century France as they get ready to become parents in foreign surroundings.
“I think that having to figure out as a couple how they remain connected and keep their bond strong in [the] face of all these different adversities…I think that's kind of the main theme of the second season,” Balfe said.
"Obviously, they're struggling with the idea of becoming parents in a place where they're not... It's not their home; it's not where they're most comfortable,” the award-winning actress added.
A sneak preview of the season two trailer was showed at Comic-Con. The highly anticipated second installment is due for release in 2016 but an exact date is not yet known.
"I think we would be killed if we ever divulged it,” Balfe said when pressed about details.
However, the former Victoria’s Secret model did reveal that there will be lots more attractive men in the new series and fewer men wearing traditional Scottish kilts.
Meanwhile Heughan admitted that he loves filming the steamy scenes, and promised that there will be plenty more of them in the next season.
