Jeremy McConnell has apologised to Stephanie Davis' boyfriend Sam Reece, but says he will be with her if she wants.
The former Mr Ireland contestant spoke about his Celebrity Big Brother romance with Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield on This Morning.
Jeremy (23) was evicted from the house on Friday night, leaving Stephanie (22) in floods of tears. Earlier that day he told her he loved her and she said she would dump model Sam for him.
"I'm sorry to Sam. I'm sorry for how it worked out," said Jeremy, who insisted he's still single.
"I'm a single boy. I told Steph that I would give her a few weeks to sort things out when she comes out of the house. She needs to talk to Sam. If she wants to be with me, then I will."
Although he told his housemate that he loved her, he told Philip and Holly that "Love is a very strong word".
"I don't think anyone knows what love is," he continued. "Outside the house, she ticks every box. But the stuff with her boyfriend needs to be addressed.
"I meant everything I said about her I'm not in it for a showmance. I didn't want to wreck lives. I like to think I have some integrity."
On eviction nights Stephanie has been consistently booed by the crowd outside although Jeremy was spared such vocal booing on his eviction.
"I thought there would be more boos when I came out, having heard the public's reaction to Stephanie in the house. It takes two to tango," he said.
On one evening when Stephanie was ill in bed the housemates played Truth or Dare and Jeremy kissed fellow housemate Tiffany Pollard.
He said he would not have done it had Stephanie been in the room and when quizzed by Holly as to whether it was the "right thing to do" he was unrepentant.
"I didn't see it like that. I'm single and I just wanted to get stuck in. I just saw it as a game of Truth or Dare."
Stephanie's boyfriend Sam reportedly turned down an offer to enter the Big Brother house and sort things out with Stephanie and Jeremy but he declined.
He has not publicly responded to the events.
