'If Ireland can beat Germany, I can win the Strictly glitter ball,' says Daniel O'Donnell
This weekend's Strictly Come Dancing performance will see Daniel O'Donnell revisit memories of his 1970s upbringing.
The crooner told RTE One's Ray D'Arcy that this weekend he will be taking a trip down memory lane for tonight's show.
"I'm Danny Zuko," he revealed. "I never thought I'd see the day. All the Grease fans would be horrified, but it's fun."
"I remember going to Letterkenny in school to see Grease when it came out," the Donegal native recalled.
"Did I ever think that I would be pretending to be Danny Zuko doing the cha cha," he laughed.
"I'll come out all gelled up. I'll be wearing a leather jacket and jeans," he revealed.
Daniel also confessed that he is finding the pressure tough.
"I'm tired but at the same time when you get going the adrenaline pumps you up," Daniel said.
He added that his partner Kristina Rihanoff is a great and patient teacher.
"Earlier this week, I thought I'd never figure the steps out. It's hard when you're on the floor. I need to pretend I'm at the practice room. For the cha-cha you need strong command in your legs...then I forget to smile."
"I want to, but I'm concentrating too much. Kristina said to me: strong legs, stomach in, shoulders down, breathe and smile, all in one breath."
"She [Kristina] is a great teacher. I'm not saying I'm not enjoying it. Last week I did my best to enjoy it and I hope I can this week too."
