Cunningham has just returned from a tour of International Rescue Committee (IRC) camps in Greece where he met some of the 57,000 refugees along with fellow Game of Thrones stars Maisie Williams and Lena Headey.

The trio have asked the EU to reconsider its March agreement with Turkey which forces migrants to apply for asylum in the "safe third country" before they are allowed to travel to the EU.

Cunningham said: " This is not an earthquake, this is not a tidal wave. This is a man-made crisis - 57,000 stranded in Greece. Refugee camps in Europe? Is this truly the standard EU leaders want to set as the way to respond to the global refugee crisis?"
