Mrs Brown's Boys has legions of fans - but Emmerdale star Chris Chittell isn't one of them.

The veteran soap star, who plays Eric Pollard in the popular soap, said he doesn't find Brendan O'Carroll's slapstick comedy funny.

"I'd rather learn to play golf backwards at night than watch Mrs Brown's Boys," he told the Herald. "It's just not my humour - and I use that word lightly.

"But humour is humour and the more we have of it the better. Just because I don't like it doesn't mean it's not funny."

Chittell and his co-star Michelle Hardwick, who plays Vanessa Woodfield, were in Dublin yesterday to launch the Wobbly Weekender fundraiser.

A host of Emmerdale stars will be back in the city on June 10 to raise much-needed funds for Funding Neuro and Cancer Fund for Children.

There will be everything from a Night Golf Challenge to 5km and 10km runs. To find out more visit www.fundingneuro.com

"I love Ireland and I'm so excited to be back. I haven't been here for 15 years since I was on tour with a play called Merry Wives of Windsor and King John," said Hardwick.

"My wife Rosie hasn't been since she was a kid, so we're keen to come over for a few weeks with our dogs."
