I knew they'd kill off Ripper Street - Killian Scott
It was off and then it was on again, but now crime series Ripper Street is to finally be finished off.
This week it was confirmed that the gritty drama, which is filmed in Dublin, will wrap up following its fifth series.
While the news disappointed its fans, star Killian Scott said he wasn't surprised.
"I always knew I was just coming in for two seasons anyway," Killian told the Herald.
"When I came into it, it was on the understanding that it was finished anyway.
"So when they announced it this week I was surprised - I thought everyone knew that."
The Victorian crime drama was cancelled by the BBC after its second season, but was picked up by Amazon Prime for a third. It was then recommissioned for two more seasons after high viewing figures on the streaming site.
The first three seasons of the Victorian crime drama were shot at Clancy Barracks, with the final two made at the Kilternan Hotel and Country Club in Dublin.
As well as Love/Hate actor Killian, the show also starred Monaghan actress Charlene McKenna and British actor Matthew Macfadyan.
Hunky actor Killian made a mad dash from the set of Ripper Street to attend the premiere of his new film, Traders, at Cineworld on Dublin's Parnell Street.
"It's my first lead role," said Killian. "Every day was intense and exhausting because you are in every scene, but it was also very satisfying."
