Singer Daniel O'Donnell also ruled himself out of competing on RTE's new show Dancing with the Stars, despite appearing in BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.

"My dancing shoes are polished and put away now. I would recommend it to everybody," he said.

"But I hope that they get proper judges for the show, that they don't just get celebrities who think they know everything."

Daniel has been staying in lots of strangers' beds for his new RTE show but it hasn't interrupted Daniel's sleep.

He says he always sleeps like a log while filming Daniel and Majella's B&B Road Trip.

"I'm used to sleeping away. I'm not one of those people who's dying to get into their own bed. I don't have that kind of feeling. I've slept in beds everywhere, for as long as I can remember, from being on the road," he said.

The reality show was a big hit for UTV Ireland and RTE is hoping to replicate its success when it screens the show shortly.

Yet O'Donnell said that for the most part, everything that happens on the programme is largely impromptu as he travels the country meeting his superfans.

"We don't have anything to do with where we go or where we stay," he said.

"Everything is planned in terms of where we're going but how it happens is very unscripted."

He said the key to him and Majella enjoying the experience was "just to be comfortable" in whatever house they're staying in.

"It doesn't have to be a fancy house or anything, but some of the houses are very plush too. There's a good variety this time around in the size and type of houses. It was very enjoyable.

"I haven't seen any of the footage from it (the show). We had a lot of fun doing it and I suppose the first series was so well-received, we're hoping this one will be just as well-received."
