Fair City’s George McMahon said he “feels like a rock star” when he’s outside of Dublin.

Known for playing Mondo in the long-running soap, George said he gets recognised a lot by fans outside the capital.

“It happens at least once a day when I’m in Dublin,” he told the Herald.

“But I do find that there is a huge following around the country.

“I get a lot more people coming up to me when I’m outside Dublin – I feel like a rock star.

“I guess the city is quite fast-paced and you could see anyone walking down the street, whereas down in Limerick you definitely hear more about it,” he added.

The 30-year-old is next taking on the role of the Prince in the Limerick panto, Sleeping Beauty and said he often gets heckled on stage.

“I get a good few people shouting up at me, I have to say,” he said. “Once there was a real romantic moment with the prince and princess at the end of the panto and someone shouts up: ‘Give her a kiss, Mondo’.

“It’s all in good fun though and you can get away with that in the panto,” he added.
