Sharon Horgan has revealed that filming sex scenes for the upcoming second season of Catastrophe was anything but sexy.

The 38-year-old Dublin actress stars with Rob Delaney (45) in the hit Channel 4 show about a couple - Sharon and Rob - who got pregnant, and married, in a whirlwind.

Speaking to Heat magazine, Sharon revealed they feel less awkward with sex scenes for this series than they did first time around.

"It's so technical," she says, "I think the first time we did it I did feel a little shy, but now he's lying on top of me and sweating... it's not sexy, it's just part of the job."

There's certainly no room for vanity when they're watching themselves back on screen.

"We have to [not be vain]," says Rob.  "I mean I'll look at my turkey neck fat, but because I see it so frequently I don't get upset about it.  Such is life."

Sharon adds, "There are definitely some scenes where I catch sight of myself and think, 'Jesus, I've aged five years since series one.'

"And it is very hard not to ask the editor to swap those moments for another take but generally I go for funny over everything."

The end of the last season saw Sharon giving birth on screen, a scene she described as "horrific" because it took her back to giving birth, "which can be harrowing.  And I did feel harrowed."
