HBO is clamping down on viewers accessing the service outside the US.

Customers accessing the HBO Now service outside the United States, even though they are paying, are being threatened with account suspension, according to TorrentFreak.

Subscribers who signed up for HBO Now, which offers viewers access to content without a TV subscription, from countries including the UK, Canada, Germany and Austrlia have been targeted.

HBO content is not allowed to be viewed outside the US under the company's terms of use so anyone accessing it via VPNs or other unblocking tools are in breach of this.

Netflix faces similar problems with 'geo-piracy' as viewers outside the US use tools to access the American version of the streaming service which offers different content to the European service.
