Temperatures are set to sizzle on the new series of TV3's 'The Restaurant' - and that's just among the celebrities.

TV presenter and diamond dealer Grainne Seoige is one of the brave stars stepping into the kitchen on the new series of the show.

However, her South-African inspired starter left an unsavoury taste among some, as seen in a preview clip at the show launch at Marco Pierre White's restaurant in Donnybrook. Both diners and the critics complained about "a bit of grit" in her Biltong and Fig salad.

This prompted speculation that maybe the lettuce hadn't been washed properly.

Head chef Gary O'Hanlon pointed out that the gritty sensation may have been caused by the coriander.

"I will not be accused of serving dirty lettuce in this kitchen," Grainne said.

Maitre D' John Healy was then instructed to tell the critics that they may have mistaken the salt for coriander.

This was rejected by Tom Doorley, who called it "boll**ks", as well as chef Marco Pierre White.

"Grit is grit and coriander is coriander. Coriander does not grind between your molars," Marco Pierre White said.

Grainne's episode will air on TV3 on Thursday, March 23.
