The pair who play sisters Ayra and Sansa Stark in the HBO programme got the date August 7 2009 inked on their forearms.

It's understood this marks the day they met as part of the Game of Thrones cast.

They got their matching tattoos at the Belfast City Skinworks.

Fans were thrilled recently as they bumped into the stars in the streets of Belfast.

The series will end after season eight leaving fans with only two more adventures of bloody battles, sword fights and dragons.

As a large part of the filming takes place in Northern Ireland - fans of the show have been lucky to spot the cast.

The actresses showed off their new tattoos on Sunday night at the Emmys where Game of Thrones had a record-breaking night.

The show, based on George RR Martin's novels, has now scooped 38 Emmys, beating Frasier's record of 37 to become the most-awarded narrative show in Emmy history.

Sky Atlantic fantasy Game Of Thrones was named best drama series and picked up gongs for outstanding writing and directing at the event in Los Angeles, although there was disappointment for British heartthrob Kit Harington as well as Headey, Clarke and Williams.
