A former star of '90s drama Melrose Place is facing more time in jail
44-year-old actress Amy Locane-Bovenizer spent three years in prison for vehicular homicide and was released on parole in June of last year, but a recent hearing said her sentence may have been too lenient.
She was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
The average sentence for the crime is five to 10 years and it's reported that Locane was given a lighter sentence because the judge believed her two young children would be negatively affected by a longer setence.
On June 27, the actress was speeding and her blood alcohol levels were later determined to be three teams over the legal limit, when she crashed into another vehicle killing the passenger instantly and critically injuring the driver.
According to the Associated Press, the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office alleges, ""The trial judge did not identify compelling reasons to downgrade defendant's second degree offense, other than the harm defendant's children were likely to experience as a result of her incarceration."
"He also found that defendant no longer posed a risk to the public, but neither the rationale for the conclusion nor the record support for it were fully stated."
