First look: Ian Noctor makes his debut appearance on the Sunday AM set as he prepares to replace Ivan Yates
New Sunday AM host, Ian Noctor, is making himself at home in Ballymount.
The Waterford man has replaced Ivan Yates as co-host host of Sunday AM.
He'll make his first appearance on the TV3 breakfast show on Sunday, July 10 with Anna Daly.
The former head of News at Today FM and media consultant said he's looking forward to his new gig.
“I am 47 years of age and this is my first foray into television and — you can imagine when you are at this point in your life — you kind of think ‘aw yeah, what I have, I have now’, and then this came out of the blue and I’m thinking, ‘Jaysus this is brilliant’,” he told the Sunday Indepenedent.
“I’m really, really excited.”
In addition to Sunday AM, he will fill in for Mark Cagney for the month of August on Ireland AM.
On the prospect of filling Yates’s shoes, he said the broadcaster was “a larger than life character” but he added: “I have a personality of my own and I’m going to let it shine through, be as much myself as I can be, and not allow myself to get too nervous and hopefully the viewers will like it.”
Earlier this year Ivan Yates announced plans to quit his media gigs, including his breakfast show on Newstalk and Sunday AM as he heads off on his round-the-world gap year with his wife, Deirdre.
