Radio broadcaster Muireann O’Connell showed the world she knows how to shine on TV on last night’s Seven O’Clock Show.

It was her glistening legs that stole the show, as the host admitted that her legs had been peeling after a recent sun holiday, and in an attempt to conceal the damage, she covered them with baby oil before appearing on the show.

However, it turned out she had been overzealous with her efforts, leaving the audience “blinded” by her shiny pins.

Viewers took to Twitter to recommend someone “get down to Penney’s and buy Muireann a pair of tights”, while another commented: “Muireann looks like she’s been rolling in jelly. Wipe off the oily legs dudes.”

When the show returned from an ad break, co-host Ray Foley was visibly delighted to report: “Muireann’s legs are fine now actually. You should have seen them earlier.

“There was panic over the last five minutes, there was seven people here, three of them I don’t even know, trying to polish Muireann’s legs.”

Muireann herself was a little red-faced when she added: “Yes, they were. I have make-up on my legs now, so they’re very special now. They’re better looking than my face.”

After the show, she headed to Twitter to issue a sly statement.

“Earlier on this evening, an affair which had been kept very much (under) wraps, was exposed.

“I have been seeing baby oil for some time now. We knew it was wrong but just couldn’t stay away from each other. We felt bright, like diamonds, where we were together,” she quipped.

“The blatant and disgusting nature of our relationship has been made plain to us by the good people of Twitter.”

Ray Foley also turned to Twitter to joke about the show, posting a photo of his own hairy legs with the caption: “Don’t know what people are moaning about. My legs are much worse. #toomuchbabyoil”.
