He's a rock star, but Bono's daughter Eve Hewson has advised him not to try his hand at acting.

Actress Eve said she told her 54-year-old dad to "stick with the day job" after he asked her opinion about appearing in a movie alongside Beyonce.

The rising starlet is gearing up to see her next TV project, The Knick, which follows the staff of a failing hospital, air in the US.

Eve plays a nurse in the mini-series, which is directed by Steven Soderbergh.

"I walked on to the set and thought, 'Is this actually happening?'" Eve told W magazine of her biggest role yet.

The 23-year-old, who features opposite Clive Owen, practised an American accent for the part and had to study the basics of early 20th Century medicine.

Eve, who admitted she's afraid of needles, said: "I'm a huge fainter.  I went with my mom to get a blood test and I was like, 'Oh my God!'"
