The 24-year-old studied drama at New York University and has never relied on her famous name to further her career.

"There's the cliche of the celebrity kid with a fragrance and a handbag line and they design jewellery on the side and maybe dabble in acting," she said.

"I've always been very particular about the fact that [acting] is the one thing I want to do."

She previously said that having the U2 frontman as a father hasn't necessarily helped her in Hollywood.

"What's great about Hollywood is that it is so cut-throat, and it really f**king doesn't matter who you are. If you're not right for the part, you're not right the part," she said.

"No director is going to sacrifice their film because they want someone's famous kid in it for a headline."

Eve previously dated One Tree Hill star James Lafferty but she is currently single.

"My sister says, 'You need to look more available ... You're so confident in yourself, you look like you have a boyfriend'. I'm 24, I don't need a boyfriend. It's so much fun being on your own," she said.

She also spoke of growing up in a house full of music.

"[There was] music all around and writers walking in and out," she said of their house growing up.

"I was constantly dancing in front of the TV and p**sing everyone off. (They'd say) 'Stop dancing, Eve'."

She is currently starring in medical drama The Knick with Clive Owen and says she had to force her parents to watch it, due to the more intimate scenes in the show.

"I made them watch it, I forced them to watch it. I wasn't in the room though," she said.

"They watched every episode - my parents were funny about it but they were really supportive and my mom just kept saying to my sister, 'She's so good'.

"I think my dad had a few moments where he went 'Agh' [and had to cover his face] but they loved the show," Eve added.

The young star appeared on the front cover of Town & Country's Modern Swans issue in which she is named as one of 50 young women who are making their mark on the world.
