A source has revealed that her character, Neasa Dillon, will be seen kissing someone under the mistletoe as she stirs things up.

“She’s going to have a bit of a romance with someone else who’s returning home for Christmas in Carrigstown,” said the source.

“The door was always left open for Aoibhin’s character to come back, so she’s been given a juicy storyline for Christmas as she was a very popular character.”

Aoibhin, who left nearly three years ago, said her character would be making a “fun-filled festive return”.

“I love the character and loved my time there, so it’s fun to come back,” she said.

“It’s been about three years, and I always had it in the back of my mind that Neasa had left in a taxi and not in a box, which was a good thing.”

Aoibhin said she didn’t know if her return would be permanent, as she was keeping her options open.

“I don’t know, to be honest. At the moment, it’s just a Christmas thing and we’ll see after that. Because it was just a two-week thing, it was easier to commit.”

Aoibhin has a big year ahead of her, given that she’s due to walk down the aisle with her hotelier fiance John Burke.

He went down on bended knee on her 28th birthday last June as they sealed the deal on their romance.

Aoibhin, who’s from Doolin, Co Clare, said she fell in love with John’s “charming nature” and was hoping he would pop the question.

“We’d been talking about it and I was getting to the stage where I was like, ‘Get on with it’,” she said.

“He wasn’t put under any pressure at all, but he knew he needed to get a move on.”

Aoibhin said 2015 has been “one of my best years ever” and is looking forward to her wedding.

The couple will be married at John’s Armada Hotel at Spanish Point in Co Clare next September – but far from turning into a Bridezilla, the actress says she is relishing the planning.

“It hasn’t been stressful at all yet, I’ve really enjoyed it. There may be a career move yet to wedding planning,” she said.
