Caitriona Balfe's Hollywood takeover continues as Outlander is commissioned for two more seasons
There's still a lot we haven't seen of Caitriona Balfe.
And it looks like there's more to come as her series Outlander has been commissioned for another two seasons (at least). The Monaghan native stars as Claire Randall in the cult hit and after two successful seasons, network executives want more.
It's a complicated back story - an epic romance with a time-travelling lead which sees Claire teleported from the 1950s to the 1700s where she falls for Jamie. Marriage, babies and lots of complications ensues.
US network Starz, which airs Outlander, confirmed the show will be back for seasons three and four.
Chris Albrecht, CEO of Starz, said in a statement: "Outlander is like nothing seen before on television. From its depiction of a truly powerful female lead character, to the devastating decimation of the Highlander way of life, to what is a rarely seen genuine and timeless love story, it is a show that not only transports the viewer, but inspires the passion and admiration of its fans.
Balfe was nominated for a Golden Globe for the role and is currently starring in Money Monster opposite George Clooney and Julia Roberts.
