He's attracted notoriety across the UK as a father to some 40 children by 20 different women.

Mike Holpin (56) appeared on Channel 5 documentary '40 Kids by 20 Women' last night.

And his face has been splashed across all the papers this morning.

The recovering alcoholic, from Ebbw Vale in Wales, says he doesn't believe in contraception and loves to have sex.

He says he isn't sure of the exact number of children he has fathered - but he does know of 22 that bear his name Holpin, and 18 who don't.

His children are aged 37 to three.

Mr Holpin says he has difficulty remembering all the names of his children, and has them tattooed on his back, in the shape of a tree.

However, he is not in touch with all of his offspring, something he regrets and attributes to his "drinking and womanising".

He told last night's documentary that he is a "changed man", would like to be reunited with his entire brood.

Mr Holpin claimed he had his first sexual experience at the age of nine.

He first became a father at the age of 19.

"I'm as fertile as sin," he told the documentary.

"I don't believe in contraception and I love sex."

Mr Holpin said the majority of his relationships failed and many of his children were taken from his care due to his alcoholism.

"Due to my drinking and womanising, most of my kids have gone through the care system.

"It makes me feel like s*** because they've suffered. They [social services] took them from me because I'm an alcoholic.

"I'm still an alcoholic. I just don't practise it.

"When they went into care, I made a promise that no matter how long it took, I will get my kids home".

Mr Holpin is now engaged to fiancee Diane and is hoping to add to his brood.

"I'm only 56.

"I'll never stop having children. Never stop. In the Bible, God says go forth and multiply.

"I'm doing what God wants," he said.

Not surprisingly, Mr Holpin caused quite a reaction across social media when the documentary was broadcast last night.
