Blathnaid Treacy: I get so overwhelmed with work at RTE
TV host Blathnaid Treacy has said she's often overwhelmed by the pressures of modern life and her job at RTE.
"Sometimes it can get too much - some weeks I'm working six or seven days and it's funny because, believe it or not, I'm incredibly lazy," she told the RTE Guide.
"I love lying in and sleeping until 12, so there are times I want everyone to leave me alone - I want to watch an episode of Girls, eat chocolate and escape the world."
The Dubliner, who has been a fixture on RTE's TwoTube for four years, studied Irish and archaeology at UCD. She said the stress she experiences comes from graduating into the economic slump.
"I think it's our generation - you never switch off," she said.
"You have to work your backside off to get a job - and the minute you get it you feel you have to work your butt off to keep that job.
"It's a big part of why I sometimes get overwhelmed.
"I always say 'Yes' to things. I think it comes from graduating into the recession - you just have to work harder."
However, it hasn't been all work and no play for the 28-year-old, who has a string of holidays to look forward to.
"Summer has been a well-learned break. I went to Lisbon for a long weekend for a few days," she told the Diary.
"I went to Cornwall with my boyfriend, Charlie, and his family for a few days and then I'm going to Vietnam and Cambodia for a few weeks too, just before all the madness starts again in September."
Although she's got her hands full at Montrose, Blathnaid admitted she would "never say never" to a move to Britain in the future.
