Anna Daly and Bernard Brogan on wish-list for DWTS as second series awaits green light from RTE
It was the smash-hit of RTE's TV schedule at the start of this year. However, the producer of Dancing With The Stars has said the big-budget programme is yet to get the green light for a second series.
Shinawil's Larry Bass revealed that, while RTE appears "close" to coming to a final decision, nothing has been confirmed yet for 2018.
When asked about the future of the celeb-filled show, he said "nothing is set in stone".
"We still don't have a contract, but we hope to have one soon for Dancing With The Stars series two," he said. "It all takes an enormous amount of time."
Although a final decision has yet to be made, a number of celebrities have been app- roached and sounded out to see if they would be interested in taking part.
The Herald has learned that TV3's Anna Daly is among those on the wish list for the programme-makers, along with Vivienne Connolly and Dublin GAA star Bernard Brogan.
This week saw presenter Nicky Byrne admit that he doesn't yet know about the programme's future.
The first series of the Sunday night prime-time show was won by Kerry GAA star Aidan O'Mahony and his partner Valeria Milova and ran for 12 weeks, from early January to the end of March.
Performing well for RTE, it regularly pulled in audiences of more than 500,000 but is an expensive show to make, with its budget rumoured to be €2.5m.
