Angela Scanlon announced as presenter of BBC's The One Show
Irish presenter Angela Scanlon has been announced as the new presenter of BBC's The One Show.
The Meath native will be filling in for regular host Alex Jones as she goes on maternity leave from January.
Angela will be one of the two presenters lined up to fill in for Alex during her time off.
Speaking of the news, Angela said she was "thrilled".
"I'm over the moon to get the chance to present one of my favourite shows on TV and I'm thrilled to be looking after Alex's spot on the green sofa while she is away," she said.
"I have always been a massive fan of The One Show and love being part of that wonderful family so I really can't wait to get started," she said.
Angela will co-host the show on Thursdays and Fridays. Michelle Ackerley will co-host on Mondays and Tuesdays. Both women will alternate Wednesdays.
The One Show's editor, Sandy Smith said: “Angela and Michelle have already made a big impact with the audience and The One Show team both will bring something fresh until Alex returns.”
Angela is quickly building an impressive CV sincer her first TV gig, the documentary Oi Ginger! in 2013. She pushed forward with the follow-up series Angela Scanlon: Full Frontal and Angela Scanlon's Close Encounters for RTE/RTE 2. She also presented BBCNI's travel show Getaways and the BBC2 show Robot Wars with Dara O'Briain.
Her latest documentary, Trump's Unlikely Superfans, is now available on BBC Three.
