It's undoubtedly a skill that will come in very handy for An Taoiseach in the course of his duties.

Following a grilling by Ireland AM anchor Mark Cagney on the Ireland AM sofa this morning, Enda Kenny was likely relieved to be then tasked with baking scones.

Resident Ireland AM cook Catherine Leyden, aka the Odlums Lady, schooled him in the process and, as she worked, he filled the country in on his breakfast routine.

Enda rises at 6.30am with a bowl of porridge and dried fruit.  Not that he doesn't indulge in the odd scone.  He revealed that Marjorie, fair play to her, takes the train to Dublin to bring him her homemade jam.

He then tried a pre-baked scone.
