Amanda Byram lands her 'dream gig' - hosting the IFTA Television Awards
Amanda Byram has been announced as the host of this year's inaugural IFTA Gala Television Awards
The 42-year-old took to Twitter to announce the news that she would be hosting theglitzy event on October 22.
"Absolutely thrilled to be hosting this years @IFTA TV awards. Have been a fan of @IFTA for years. #dreamgig" she wrote.
Amanda has presented shows in Ireland, the UK and the US over the past 15 years including The Swan, Entertainment Tonight, Total Wipeout, Sunday Brunch, and Channel 4's Big Breakfast.
Commenting on the announcement, she said, “I am so honoured to be hosting the IFTA Gala TV Awards! Having been a spectator and a supporter of the IFTA’s since day one, this is a dream gig for me! I believe that supporting Irish talent and the industry is of the utmost importance. It is also important to acknowledge, support and reward those who work so hard to make the Irish TV industry what it is.”
The TV awards will be the second IFTA ceremony this year following academy's decision to split the Film and Television awards into two separate events. The film awards were held in May.
TV3's Red Rock leads this year's nominated with seven nods while Chris O'Dowd's Moone Boy has bagged five, RTE's Fair City has four and Brendan O'Caroll's Mrs Brown's Boys has two.
The Awards take place on October 22 at the DoubleTree Hilton in Ballsbridge, Dublin. They will be broadcast on TV3 at 9pm on October 25.
