Aisling O'Loughlin quits the small screen after Xpose axe
TV star Aisling O'Loughlin is leaving the small screen after she was axed from Xpose.
The popular presenter (37) was on maternity leave from the TV3 entertainment show when she learned she wouldn't be returning in a reshuffle of the programme. She was reportedly in negotiations with the broadcaster for other positions, but has now decided to set up her own lifestyle website.
"Sometimes you can wait your lifetime for somebody else to accommodate you," she told the Irish Mail on Sunday of her decision to leave after more than 10 years.
"The lesson for me in this is that I will accommodate myself. You have to just adapt fast - media is a precarious beast and you don't know what's going to happen next."
Aisling was part of the show's original lineup alongside Karen Koster, who has maintained her anchor position and Lisa Cannon, who has been moved as the maternity cover for Anna Daly on Weekend AM.
Incoming presenters Cassie Stokes and Ruth O'Neill were brought in as maternity cover on the nightly entertainment show and it was announced they were being brought on board full-time.
Peter O'Riordan joined the show in 2014 and has since moved back to Los Angeles after he was dropped in the new line-up after two years.
As for words of advice for the new reporters? "It's a lot of work, so I would wish the new girls the best of luck with it because you need your energy and stamina. They'll have fun too."
She added she would "never say never" to a return to her old stomping ground in the future.
Aisling, a mother of three boys, will launch her new website this Friday.
A source previously told Independent.ie there was no bad blood between any of the parties, saying: "Xpose is 10 years old now. It was in need of a revamp like any series that would be 10 years old."
