Aidan Turner: Poldark mania is preposterous... I got a little bit overwhelmed
Irish heartthrob Aidan Turner has described as “preposterous” the hype surrounding cult hit Poldark.
The Clondalkin actor hasn’t appeared to have lost his down-to-earth nature even after finding fame with the hit UK series. He said it’s hard to get his head around it sometimes.
“The whole thing is a bit preposterous, it’s kind of nuts, you know – I got a little bit overwhelmed,” he said.
“We were all taken aback a bit by its success. It’s a strange experience to have that happen.”
Although fans are used to seeing him without his shirt in the popular series, he’s been re-styled with an edgier look for the latest issue of British Vogue.
Hailed as the ultimate seal of approval from the fashion bible, the single actor (33) posed for stunning pics with his gorgeous co-star Eleanor Tomlinson.
The Gaiety School of Acting graduate, who split from Sarah Greene last year, told the magazine that he was shocked by the
reaction to that famous topless scene of him in a field.
“When you’re playing the character, you don’t think, ‘I look really hot in this scene.’
“If I was wearing a shirt in the middle of the summer doing that kind of manual work, that for me would have been odd,” he said.
But one lady who seems immune to his charms is his co-star Eleanor who said that while he was “beautiful to look at”, they didn’t feel that way about each other.
