The loves of my life: Elaine Crowley
From her favourite holiday destination to her controversial vice, the TV presenter tells Elle Gordon all about her likes and dislikes
My Mother, Mary V - even though she is a pain, I do love her dearly.
It is when I was in secondary school. I was on the basketball team. I remember I was in a blitz and I got on really well. The next Saturday, my dad picked me up from training amd had a brand new pair of basketball boots for me. I remember I was so touched, and it was so amazing and I never expected it.
The moment of the day
I love getting into bed. You know when you're tired and there are fresh sheets and the electric blanket is on? Bed is my favourite place; I love it.
More Than Words by Extreme. I play a bit of guitar, and the first time I heard it I thought it was the most beautiful song I had ever heard. I remember I taped it. How old am I? God!
The Princess Bride. It's hilarious and so clever and I love it. I'm a nerd; I make no bones about it.
Emma Hannigan. She's currently battling cancer for the 10th time. She calls cancer a bastard, which it is. Despite all of this, I had a bit of a low point after Christmas and she was checking up on me the whole time. And she said: 'Do you know what, we're all battling something.' She's just a kind, happy, pink sparkly person, and I love her, and she inspires me so much.
The Lord Of The Rings trilogy. I'll never forget it. Once I start reading a book, I can't put it down. I finished The Two Towers at four o'clock that morning, and then I stayed awake until 9am when I could go and buy the third book.
It's a black dress. I wore it recently for a breast-cancer fundraiser. It is very plain, but it fits me no matter what size I am, and I love it. You can't go wrong with a little black dress and heels.
Anything leopard print, although I'm not allowed have leopard print any more. I know it can be tacky, but I love it. My boyfriend hates it, but I don't care. When I get married, it will be in a leopard-print dress.
An electric blanket. I've burnt out two of them in the last year. I love anything bed related. There's a theme there.
Thailand. I go every couple of years, if I can, to a place called Absolute Sanctuary. It's a yoga and detox retreat. When I go on holiday, I like to come back feeling better than when I left.
The pet hate
Turkish delight. If I smell it, I will vomit. I eat pretty much everything except Turkish delight. And marzipan. Yuck.
My best friend, Claire. Everyone has one best friend from all their life, and she's mine. I first met her when I was four. She is always there and always will be. It's weird - if ever I'm in a bad patch, she seems to know and she will ring me out of the blue.
The beauty product
SkinCeuticals Blemish + Age Defense Serum. It's expensive, but you only use a tiny amount each time.
The piece of advice
It's none of your business what anyone else says about you, so ignore it.
I love mojitos.
Muckross Park Hotel in Kerry. It's the staff that make the place. Killarney National Park is an absolutely beautiful part of the world.
Searson's on Baggot Street. It's nice to go to your local and they know what you drink. It doesn't happen too often in Dublin, but they know there.
I read quite a lot - it's my favourite thing to do. I read an awful lot of books.
The part of your body
My eyes. They're a nice colour. I think my eyes have always been my best feature - and they never get fat, which is great.
Billy Connolly. He's very sick with Parkinson's at the moment, but he's still feckin' hilarious.
I'm loyal and generous.
Where do I start? I'll try and ration it to one. Jesus, I love pizza. It doesn't love me, but I love it.
Essential oils. Lemongrass and lavender.
We're going back to pizza here, really aren't we? Hawaiian pizza - I know it's controversial - with garlic dip. Mizzoni's Hawaiian pizza is the ultimate.
