As a 'young cub' straight out of college, Roisin O'Hara was one of the first journalists at TG4. She paved the way for other broadcasters who also started their careers at the Irish language station before going on to work with RTÉ.

She has taken on a variety of roles over the years, and her weekly TG4 chat show Róisín, now in its third year, continues to be a hit with viewers.

"It's a magazine show and we primarily focus on women's issues. We also cover a lot of social issues - and we have a lot of craic as well."

But the mother-of-four also candidly admits the challenges of combining career and home life in the turbulent world of media can be daunting.

"It's challenging to say the least, but it's getting a little bit easier as they grow older.

"They're now less and less dependent on me.

"But you still have to be there to cater to their emotional needs.

"I wouldn't be able to do it without support from a great husband."

Roisin will present the TG4 20th Anniversary Special Live Show, which will air on Halloween night at 9.30pm.
