Teresa happy to swap 'muck and rain' for tan and fake eyelashes
She's best-known for bracing torrential weather conditions to deliver her news reports, but Dancing with the Stars' Teresa Mannion is loving her glamorous transformations on the hit RTÉ show.
"It's so far removed from my day job," Teresa told the Irish Independent. "Usually it's me out in the muck and the rain and the waves.
"Here I am now with fake hair, fake eyelashes and fake nails and a spray tan - I'm a complete fake at this stage."
So, can viewers of Six One expect to see a different version of Teresa from now on after Dancing with the Stars (DWTS)?
"Who knows?" she laughed. "There's a lot of glitter to shake off at the end of the week. I do often think that maybe when I'm doing a piece for the news, I'll just forget where I am and do a random twirl."
Teresa, whose report from the eye of Storm Desmond went viral in December 2015, is convinced the broadcast got her the call for DWTS. Now approaching the half-way mark on the series, she's thrilled that she has made it this far with no previous dancing experience whatsoever.
"There are days when I just think 'Oh wow, how did I get here?'," Teresa admits. "I mean, to be honest, I probably got here from that weather report. I'm delighted I'm still standing. All I was hoping for was that I wouldn't be eliminated first. Every week from here on is a bonus."
