Simon Delaney to take up role on Coronation Street's cobbles
Actor Simon Delaney is getting set to join the cast of Coronation Street this summer and has filmed his debut scenes for the hit soap.
According to The Sunday World, the Bachelor's Walk star has taken up a new role in the Manchester based soap and will make his debut in June.
Details of the character set to be played by Delaney (46) have not been revealed other than that he will be an Irish arrival to Weatherfield.
The actor and presenter has had much success in recent years, landing roles on The Good Wife, The Fall, Moone Boy and The Conjuring 2.
The dad-of-four has also been a regular on the Ireland AM couch, and regularly hosts Saturday programmes on TV3.
Delaney will have big shoes to fill when it comes to Irish representation on the soap, as former Boyzone star Keith Duffy has also found success on the soap.
Duffy had several successful stints in Coronation Street as Dublin rogue Ciaran McCarthy featuring between 2002 and 2005, 2010 and 2011, before departing the role for good.
