Ros na Rún actor Diarmuid Mac An Adhastair passes away aged 71
The cast and fans of TG4 soap opera Ros na Rún are today mourning Irish actor Diarmuid Mac An Adhastair who passed away on Friday.
The actor, who played lovable rogue Séamus Mhicil Tom in the long-running soap-opera died at the age of 71.
Diarmuid had featured in the soap for almost twenty years and had been a part of Ros na Rún’s cast since its onset in 1996.
The actor’s character Séamus was the village blaggard who tormented the guards and authorities with his tricks, poaching and poitín making.
The respected performer worked on many other productions, they include “Cré na Cille’ and Páirc Thomáis Taobh Istigh’, as well as the short film “Cosa Nite” and “An Leabhar”.
A statement was this morning released by the cast of the Irish language soap.
“Diarmuid loved acting and it was a great honour and pleasure to us all to work with him as a fellow actor, crew member or writer.
“Our sincere sympathies and our prayers to his wife Máirín and his two sons; Caomhán and Diarmuid, and their daughter Gráinne.
“You will be greatly missed Diarmuid
“Ar dheis Dé go raibh do anam.”
