Revealed: The handsome Maître D' of First Dates Ireland– ‘Everyone that walks into this restaurant deserves a chance to find love’
The nation is desperately awaiting the upcoming series of Ireland’s First Dates and RTE 2 has unveiled the handsome Maitre D’ who will be helping the nation find love on telly.
Mateo Saina, who cut his teeth in the restaurant business in Austria and Italy, has been living in Dublin since 2004 and is hoping to bring singletons together in the Irish version of the hit show.
“I am so excited to be involved with First Dates Ireland. From my experience, I can tell whether people on a date are confident or not, whether they are nervous, and my job is to help them feel relaxed.
“Everyone that walks into this restaurant deserves a chance to find love, that’s what First Dates is all about. It’s a great feeling to see two people making a connection and if I can help make this happen, then that’s my job done.”
The series, which has been a huge hit on Channel 4, will hit Irish screens this spring but those looking to appear on the show will be disappointed to find that applications have already closed.
First Dates UK has already seen a handle of romances flare from the show, including a couple who are due to wed later this year.
Victoria Wills (29) met 39-year-old Scott White after the pair were matched on the show and the couple hopes to marry in 2016.
“I add numbers up all the time to see what they come to and I use them as signs as good omens and bad omens,” said Executive Assistant Victoria.
“When First Dates called and said can you go on a date in two weeks time, I very quickly worked out the numbers in my head and all the numbers aligned and obviously all the numbers did align that’s why we’re here.”
“I do the opposite to most people when it comes to dating people try and present themselves in their best light and hope that someone will fall for them whereas I think I’ll just be really honest and then if they still like you you’re on to a winner because they know you’re a little bit crazy but they still like you.”
