One of the longest serving characters on Australian soap Home and Away will soon be at the centre of a shocking story-line.
Much-loved character Alf Stewart, played by Ray Meagher, will suffer a life-threatening accident.
Alf will take a trip out on his boat and will suffer a sudden heart attack.
While newcomer James Morgan quickly jumps off the boat and swims to shore for help, Stewart is still left clinging for his life.
Although he initially shows signs of improvement, Alf then suffers a stroke and is put on life support in hospital.
His daughter Roo is left trying to process the fact that her dad may never wake up.
The episode is due to air in August with many fans saying the show won’t be the same without Stewart.
