Love Island winners eye baby joy and spin-off show
Nathan Massey and Cara De La Hoyde were crowned the winners of the second series of TV dating show Love Island on Monday.
The carpenter, 25 and female circus performer, 26, won an astonishing 54 percent of the public vote to beat three other finalist couples to the show's $65,600 (€59,480) prize.
And the loved up pair are already planning their life together when they return home after spending seven weeks on the Spanish island of Majorca searching for love in the ITV2 reality series.
Speaking during the final in a segment tasking the remaining couples with telling each other how they felt about one another, Cara told Nathan, "I wanna look back on this in 30 years time and show our grandchildren how we met and that we used to be banging. We’ve got this far, let’s keep going on this crazy adventure, still making memories and let’s one day make some babies."
The couple were matched in the first week of the show, dating for all of the six weeks the contestants spent on the island.
And Nathan revealed his love for his new girlfriend in verse, as he penned a poem about their romance which he read to her.
"'The moment I met you, I gazed into those big green eyes, and you instantly stepped forward, and I didn’t get pied (dumped)," Nathan's poem began. "You have the best eyes, nice boobs and a never-ending a**e. To go the full way with you and win, now that would be class."
The match-making show, which saw contestants pair up in a bid to find a compatible partner and avoid being voted off by the public, has proved a major hit for bosses at television network ITV.
And enthusiastic viewers took to Twitter to demand that they continue to get an inside look at Nathan and Cara's love story in a spin-off show featuring the victorious couple.
"If Nathan n cara don't have a reality show in a couple of years I'll be ragin (angry)," one user with the handle @jenhuttonx_ wrote, while another with the username, @_CharleighRose added, "Cara and Nathan need their own TV show. I would be all over that, they are epic together."
After the couple were announced as the winners of the show by host Caroline Flack, beating runners-up Olivia Buckland, 22, and Alex Bowen 24, Nathan said, "For once in my life I'm speechless."
He then took to Twitter to thank fans for voting for him and Cara, as he wrote, "LOVE ISLAND WINNERS! Thank you to everyone that voted, words can't describe how we are feeling right now."
