Louis lines up Tulisa for an X-Factor return and promises huge changes
She's no longer a judge, but Louis Walsh couldn't wait to bring Tulisa Contostavlos back to The X Factor.
The 62-year-old, who is on the panel for the 11th year in a row, enlisted singer Tulisa as his guest at the judges' houses stage of the latest competition and she helped him choose which acts will go through to the live finals of the series.
Mayo man Louis, who revealed that 10 Irish contestants make it through to the bootcamp, said he was thrilled to line-up former NDubz star Tulisa's return to the ITV series after a "tough" time personally.
"I'm the only one to have done judge's houses so far and I had Tulisa with me - I thought she deserved a break," Louis said. "She's looking really good and she's brilliant."
The 26-year-old brunette was recently cleared of allegations that she had set up a drug deal after the case was thrown out of court in the UK.
"When the real story comes out, I think people will be absolutely horrified," Louis said,
Speaking on Newstalk's The Pat Kenny Show, Louis insisted that this time around there'll be plenty of changes in the format to keep audiences entertained.
"I saw the first show during the week in London and it's different - Simon is spending a lot of money on the show this year and he's changed a lot of things," Louis said.
And even though he's the longest standing judge involved in the production, Louis admitted he was unsure if he would be coming back this year.
"When you're there for 10 years you think, 'am I going to get the push'? So you never know what's going to happen.
"I didn't think I was going to get the programme back again this year, but then Simon called me and told me he wanted me back.
"He said, 'ITV are not jumping up and down about you, but I want you back and it's my show'. He brought me back," he said.
And the pressure is on: "He's told us we have to find stars, people who are going to sell records."
