A Kerry woman who was matched up on last night’s Valentine’s themed Late Late Show has revealed she has been gifted a gold card for Copper Face Jacks after a very unsuccessful date in RTE’s green room.
Amanda (28) from Milltown in Kerry appeared on The Late Late Show’s version of Blind Date last night where she was paired with Dean (25) but said the Dubliner was “good fun, but just on the show to have a laugh”.
Amanda, who works in recruitment, told Ryan Tubridy that she didn’t think she’d be taking RTE up on their offer of a second, all expenses paid date with Dean, who described himself as “exotic and enthusiastic” after the date.
“In the green room, Dean and I just chatted. I don’t have any regrets at all he’s a funny guy and it was a great experience,” Amanda said.
“When you’re on stage, you kind of forget who said what and the audience seemed to like Dean so I chose him. I don’t regret not picking the others at all. It was funny.”
Although Amanda revealed she would not be embarking on another date with Dean, she said she was chuffed to be gifted a gold card in popular Dublin night club Copper Face Jacks, which allows her to queue-skip and avoid the entrance charge for the rest of her days.
“I wouldn’t say it was a highlight, but we went to Coppers last night after the show and the guy at the door just gave me one. It means I can skip the queue and I don’t have to pay in,” she said.
Although good-natured Amanda took the positives from her date with Dean, she said he should rethink his dating strategy if he is on the look out for love.
“I think Dean was on the show for the laugh. I’m all up for that but I would like someone in the future to take me a bit seriously as well.”
Amanda joked: “We were all having a laugh and celebrating but perhaps Dean was celebrating a little bit more.”
The experience hasn’t dampened her hope of finding love in the future, either, especially with her Coppers’ gold card in her hand.
“I’d really like a guy who had a good sense of humour, who might take a date a little bit more seriously but overall last night was such a fun experience,” she said.
Tubridy acted as Cilla Black on last night’s episode where Topshop worker Dean was selected by Amanda despite telling her a story about a one night stand gone awry.
“I had a one night stand. But unfortunately I left me Leap Card, me wallet and me phone in her bedroom before I took flight out the front door,” he said.
“When I was trying to hail a taxi, I realised I had no money so I ran back up to the door, slammed on it one, two, three and there she was for me,” he said.
Amanda, who had been single for two years, turned down two prospective dates for Dean because she felt “the audience liked him”.
Following their date, Dean said: “I’ve been put into the green room and treated with the utmost hospitality. I mean RTE could not have gone any better for me. Amanda is beautiful I’ve seen her phone it was great. It was snapping.
“Do you know what? We’re getting together. I love her. I’m feeling exotic and enthusiastic,” he said.
