The Roscommon woman who could not contain her excitement when Daniel O’Donnell arrived to stay at her B&B revealed that she made sure the Donegal singer had “the best room in the house”.
A video of Anne Sheerin went viral yesterday in which she excitedly peered out the window as Daniel and his wife Majella pulled into the driveway of her B&B.
“I gave him the best room in the house,” said Anne speaking to the Anton Savage Show this morning.
“I have been a very big fan of Daniel for years and years. It wasn’t just him arriving outside it was the whole build up to it.
“We’re only a new B&B. We’re only open about two years. The excitement that was caused by the film crews coming, the camera crew, the sound men.... and then finally the gent himself and his lovely wife Majella arrived,” she said.
Anne is just one of the B&B owners set to appear on UTV’s upcoming series Daniel and Majella’s B&B Roadtrip.
The Daniel O’Donnell fan was shocked when the singer rang into the radio station this morning to gush about Anne’s hospitality.
“Oh we had a great time. The bed was great and the quilt was beautiful. It was our first stop and we couldn’t have had a better place to start.
“She gave us such a welcome. There was bacon. She had everything on the table.
“We had a lovely breakfast and Anne made us feel like we were living there forever. It was as if we were part of the family. They couldn’t have been better hosts.”
The only let-down of Daniel’s visit was a lack of his favourite snack, kippers, which Anne sadly wasn’t able to serve up.
“Next time Daniel you’ll have to tell me a week in advance that you’re coming so that I can order in the kippers for you,” she said.
Throughout the series, viewers will see Daniel and Majella take part in a range of unexpected activities, including tractor racing in Enniskerry, paddle-boarding in Bantry Bay, rocking out at a house party in Newtownabby, and playing football in Gort’s very own Anfield Stadium.
