'I'm getting ready to be a drummer' - Lisa Cannon gears up for quirky career move
She may have lost her job on Xpose but Lisa Cannon is gearing up for quirky career change as a drummer.
The TV3 presenter has switched gears and has started working on Saturday and Sunday AM, filling in for full-time host Anna Daly while she is on maternity leave.
While she still calls the Ballymount studios home, the Dubliner insisted it's a change being on a different side of the office.
"It feels the same but the show is different in terms of there are different packages. I'm becoming a drummer next week for a news feature - I have eight weeks to become the next Keith Moon," she told the Diary.
Lisa was part of the Xpose cull that also saw Peter O'Riordan and Aisling O'Loughlin axed from the series in favour of new hosts Cassie Stokes and Ruth O'Neill.
The pair first joined the series on maternity cover but have become full-time stars alongside Karen Koster and Glenda Gilson.
While her stay on Weekend AM may only be for a few months, Lisa insisted she's happier than ever on the show.
"I love it, I absolutely love it. It doesn't feel that different. I'm still bumping into Karen, I see her all the time," she said.
Lisa was part of the original hosting team on the show, which also included Lorraine Keane.
While she may have been disappointed to say goodbye to the show that made her name, she's ready to try something new on the weekend show.
"It's a great challenge. If you don't leave the shore you can't broaden your horizons so it's nice for me to try new things," she said.
"I have the Oscars coming up in February so we're going to be doing that and there's still some fashion and showbiz so it is a departure but not that different."
