Apres Match star Gary Cooke, most respected for his spot on impersonations of Eamon Dunphy, admitted that the RTE pundit would be upset if he were to stop targeting him on the show.
Cooke has been impersonating Dunphy in skits for almost 20 years and said although the pundit doesn’t particularly like the skits, he’d be sad if Apres Match was to wrap up for good.
Speaking to The Irish Sun, Cooke said: “I’m not really too sure what he thinks of it but I have met him a few times over the years and he’s always been very nice to me.
“Listen, I don’t think anyone likes being ribbed like that but I think he’d go mad the day I stopped doing it.”
The impersonator also revealed that his relationship with his Apres Match co-stars Barry Murphy and Risteard Cooper has grown from strength to strength.
“Yes, we get on. We have been known to have a pint together all right,” he said.
The trio will take their show on the road this summer as Apres Match gets set to tour the country.
