Actress Melissa Joan Hart has said she regrets not kissing her Sabrina the Teenage Witch co-star Ryan Reynolds when she had the chance.

The actress (40) said she "should have taken a chance" with Ryan, but a relationship with a former boyfriend stopped her from making a move.

Melissa, who starred in the series from 1996 to 2003, said she was "smitten" with Ryan when he played high-schooler Seth in the original film, which prompted the first series of the hit programe.

Speaking on Studio 10, Melissa said: "He was sweet. I had a boyfriend at the time, but we were smitten and cute."

"He was adorable. He was a really nice guy. Probably would have been a great boyfriend than the other guy, so maybe I should have taken a chance," Melissa said.

Ryan (40) is now happily married to Blake Lively and Melissa married musician Mark Wilkerson in 2003, with whom she has three sons.

"Ryan and I worked really well together. We had a lot of fun in Vancouver - he's from there, and he'd just show me around.

"He and I would take off on the weekends and go to Seattle for music festivals," she said.

Meanwhile, the actress has spoken about potentially reprising her role as Sabrina now that she's grown-up and in her forties.

Last year, when speaking to the Huffington Post, the mother-of-three addressed the possibility of a reboot.

"I might," she told the site.

"There's a lot of talk about it. I feel like almost every day, somebody's calling me about it. Would we do it? Should we do it? How do we do it?

"I think the thing about reboots is they're really hard to do. They're hard to do right. I think sometimes it's better to just leave it in the past, unless you do it really, really great."
