Admit it, you really, really want it to rain this weekend – and here’s the reason why.
It seems that our apparent delight for sunny skies and higher temperatures might just be an act.
More than half of us secretly wish for bad weather so we’ve an excuse to cancel plans and stay at home in our pyjamas, a new survey has shown.
While we repeat “I hope it stays good for the weekend!” to each other throughout the week, it appears that we don’t always mean it.
A surprising 54pc of us are inwardly hoping for rain so we can stay in and binge on box sets, according to the survey.
The research also found that one in ten of us hope for “weekend washouts” so we can spend the day in bed.
Other top reasons people hope for rain include saving money and having a movie marathon.
The poll also found that 42pc have used the bad weather as an excuse not to attend a social event and more than a quarter of us have used it to skip meeting with friends.
While it’s no secret that we often use the threat of bad weather as an excuse not to exercise, the survey found that 11pc have used it as reason not to see their partner’s family.
With the bank holiday weekend fast approaching, maybe a rainy weekend wouldn’t be so bad after all.
