Overwhelmed by the choice on Netflix? Here's five light-hearted, underrated shows you can binge on for hours. Just don't blame us if you don't leave your sofa for three days.

1. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

After spending 15 years in an underground bunker in a cult, Kimmy Schmidt moves to New York to start a new life. Clueless and enthusiastic, Kimmy tries to navigate her way around the Big Apple with the help from her friend and wannabe Broadway star Titus. Equal parts ridiculous and brilliant, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt will have you laughing through each epsiode. Two seasons are available on Netflix now, with the third set for release on May 19.

2. Crazy Ex Girlfriend

Musical-comedy Crazy Ex Girlfriend follows the story of Rachel Bloom, a successful New York lawyer who drops everything to move to California to be with a flame from her teen years. It's both extreme and ludicrous, but the combination somehow creates a laugh-out-loud show you'll love to hate. Season two is currently being rolled out on Netflix, with a third season confirmed.

3. Jane the Virgin

In an unexpected turn of events, Jane Villaneuva's life is changed forever when she is artificially inseminated during a routine checkup. The telenova style of Jane the Virgin will make you laugh, cry and leave you on the edge of your seat. It's fast-paced and addictive, leaving no doubt you'll want to binge watch it as quickly as possible. Unlike anything else on television, Jane the Virgin has something for everyone. Season one is available on Netflix now, with season two expected to be released later this year.

4. Grace and Frankie

After learning that their husbands are more than just business partners and want to get married, rivals Grace and Frankie find themselves depending on each other in their time of need. Starring Jane Fonda and Lilly Tomlin, total opposites Grace and Frankie form an unexpected friendship as they are forced to reevaluate their entire lives. Two seasons are available to watch now, while season three will premiere on March 24.

5. A Series of Unfortunate Events

The creation of A Series of Unfortunate Events as a tv show was highly anticipated, yet when it was released the excitement ultimately fizzled out. Saying that, the newly released drama is certainly worth watching, with dark humour and a strong story line following the three orphaned Baudelaire children as they face trials and tribulations attempting to uncover dark family secrets. The entire first series is available on Netflix now.
